OTB Solar was formed as a separate business unit only end of 2004. But being a 100% subsidiary of the OTB Group, OTB Solar has a proven track record of patented and proprietary technologies and process know-how in solar cell manufacturing.

The OTB Group has unique expertise in thin film deposition, lithographic processes and printing, combined with inline production techniques.

Milestones in brief:

  • 1994: Foundation of OTB Engineering BV
  • 1995: Launch of the CD miniliner
  • 1997: World’s first inline equipment for disposable contact lenses (for Johnson&Johnson)
  • 1999: LINEx – the World’s first inline equipment for solar cell production (for Shell Solar)
  • 2002: Launch of the DEPx – SiN thin film deposition tool
  • 2003; Introduction of unique injection molding technology
  • 2003: Launch of Linear Motor System: OTB’s patented inline vacuum transport system
  • 2004: Formation of OTB Solar as a separate business unit
  • 2005: Introduction of next generation DEPx and DEPx-xl
